"I have the Modem, now what?"

Dial-up modems can cause real problems when trying to set them up and more so on older operating systems like windows 95 and windows 98. Windows XP network connection system and drivers do make life much easier but you can still encounter problems.

The other very important thing to note is when you install a modem the default speed is not 56kb but is in fact a much lower setting!

This is what we will do when we come round to set up your dial-up account:

• Advise you the best way to attach the dial-up modem to your phone socket.
• Once installed* we go through all the settings making sure you maximise the speed of the modem.
• We will run tests on your modem to make sure it is running at the correct speed.
• We will configure your email account for you*
• We will advise you what you should be updating each time you log on.
• We will advise you what to do if you can't get connected.
• We will set up the connection so you have control over it.
• We will advise you about these premium rate numbers that hi-jack your connection.

* Excludes AOL.

Even if you have a modem if you've never altered the default settings then there is a very high chance you are not getting the most out of your modem. We can check and alter what's needed.
